Quayside Handrailing “The Hard Interchange” Portsmouth
Project: Quayside Handrailing “The Hard Interchange” Portsmouth
Client: Geoffrey Osborne Ltd
- Attractive quayside curved railing created from welded lasercut profiles
- Individual parts tack welded then all seams fully welded with 6mm fillet weld
- Handrailing created from galvanised and powdercoated tube to match posts and threaded through upright bosses to produce a seamless handrail and post system
The construction of a new transport interchange at “The Hard” in Portsmouth and renewal of the surrounding area, is the first step in a major regeneration programme of improvements being undertaken by our client. When completed, the area, which is located between the Historic Dockyard and Gunwharf Quays, will provide visitors with much improved facilities and a greatly enhanced experience of this historic area.
As part of the renewal, we fabricated and installed a galvanised & powdercoated post and handrail system from welded lasercut profiles. Individual parts were fully welded to create a curved post with matching tube threaded through to produce a seamless and continuous handrail and post system. We were able to demonstrate a flexible and cooperative approach throughout the installation which required us to work to our customer’s timetable and accommodate a variety of other trades on site.
